The Patio Swing – Top Ten Ways to Relax and Unwind

Submitted by on Monday, 26 April 2010No Comment

1. Sit down. Take a load off. The patio swing is popular with people of all ages. The garden swing is ageless. It has been a part of American culture for centuries. The sight of a place to sit conjures up a moment to relax in this busy world.

2. Appreciate nature. Cool off and feel the breeze in your face. The patio swing is a great place to cool off as you sway in the wind. Take a deep breath, look around, enjoy the sights and listen to the sounds of nature. When the weather turns cold, wrapping up in a blanket and hitting the patio swing is a great place to relax.

3. Read a book. Whether on the front porch or the backyard, a patio swing is a great place to fall back in and read a book. Hammock swings are also great designs to curl up with a good book and leave your cares behind.

4. Talk to a friend. Porch swings are so inviting. When you need to chat with a friend there’s no better place than the patio swing. Sharing your concerns with a good friend can help relieve burdens you’ve been carrying alone.

5. Take a nap. A calming and peaceful way to enjoy your backyard is to sit in your patio swing. Before you know it, you’ll be drifting off to sleep.

6. Enjoy your garden. Sit on your porch and watch your garden grow in your very own patio swing. Take time to smell the roses and ponder over what you’d like to plant next or what yard décor you’d like to acquire for a focal point in your secret garden.

7. Put the baby to sleep. Babies love the motion of swinging. When you’re out of your mind trying to settle down a baby, go to the patio swing. Hammocks are great for curling up round the baby and will put them right to sleep. Even a family with a modest income can own a patio swing and make it their prized possession. Patio swings are not the kind of luxury meant only for the rich.

8. Entertain the children. Looking for a distraction for children when you need a moment to think. Send them to the patio swing with a popsicle or glass of lemonade. Ahhhh! Now you have a moment for yourself. Although, joining them is not a bad idea either.

9. Count your blessings. Have you ever wondered why porch swings are so popular? They have been around for generations and there are about as many different varieties of garden swings as there are chairs. There’s something peaceful and calming about being in a swing. Sometimes all that is needed to reduce stress is to take a moment and count your blessings. An age-old place to do that is right at home in your patio swing. There’s always something to be glad about. I love Pollyanna and her philosophy of the glad game.

10. Gaze at the stars. What a great place to reflect on your place in the universe. The patio swing welcomes those who are seeking the cover of night, whether its alone or a romantic rendezvous.
